After the first world war, the company was founded 1918 as “Mitteldeutsche Schmirgelwerke AG” and there were three production sites under this company in Germany. Today, there are only two plants left: Butzbach and Bad Karlshafen.

After beeing bankrupted 1926, Mr August Wenzel took over the company and built up a new company. After the second world war, his son Werner Wenzel, joined the Managemennt and changed the company into a very innovative and progressive organisation. The Measuring and Controlling by Frequency has been installed first time in this kind of industry to examine the just burned products about physical failures and hardness. The technology of Burning has been changed and BSW installed the very first Belt Killn of Company Riedhammer Nürnberg, to reduce the burning time dramatically and to be able to control the kilns with digital equipment.

In 1984 the company has been sold to the NAXOS-UNION , but because of big financial problems, Naxos-Union also had to sell the BSW in 1992 to get some money. Three of the leading heads saw the chance for a new beginning and decided to buy the BSW from Naxos-Union.

Since 1992, the BSW has invested millions Euro to modernize the technical equipment to high levels and newest security standards. We are now able to gaurantee best quality and high precision grinding tools, with a very high exactness of repitition and flexibility.
